Here at Get Fruity we are passionate about our snack bars being packed with only the yummiest, fruitiest ingredients sourced from both exotic far off lands and our own magnificent rugged shores. We are going to embark on a journey around the World following our incredible ingredients & discovering their outstanding origins.

Our first ingredient takes us to the rolling hills and crashing shores of Britain where the oats we use originate. The cold, damp weather of the UK is the perfect for gluten free oats to thrive and grow. Our gluten free oats are chosen to keep our snack bars soft and devilishly moreish; not only that but oats are renowned for their slow-release energy making our Get Fruity Bars the perfect snack for breakfast, lunch boxes or an after dinner healthy snack. Oats contain beta-glucans, a type of soluble fibre that slows down the absorption of carbohydrates into the bloodstream. This slower digestion prevents dramatic spikes in blood sugar and insulin levels that would otherwise encourage our bodies to produce and store fat making them perfect for a healthy eating lifestyle or snacks suitible for diabetics.Oats are a rich source of magnesium, which is key to enzyme function and energy production and helps prevent heart attacks and strokes by relaxing blood vessels, aiding the heart muscle, and regulating blood pressure. A body of evidence suggests that eating magnesium-rich foods reduces your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Experimental and clinical data also suggests a link between magnesium deficiency and depression.

Phew, that’s a lot of science; basically, oats are pretty awesome for adults & children snacking alike which is why we cram our Get Fruity Bars with them!!

Oats became a staple grain of Scotland & oatmeal has a long history in Scottish culinary, so let’s pack a bag, lots of warm clothes and of course a hearty supply of Get Fruity Bars & see a couple of delights that Scotland has to offer!

Holyrood Park & Arthurs Seat

A beautiful, but not for the faint hearted, hike only a short walk from Edinburgh’s Royal Mile in the heart of the city. It is a 640 acre Royal Park adjacent to Holyrood Palace. The park’s highest point is Arthurs Seat, an ancient volcano, and sits 251m above sea level giving an amazing view of the city; the perfect spot to stop and admire the view and have a delicious Get Fruity Bar. It is also the site of a large and well-preserved fort ideal for budding explorers and mini-archaeologists! This hill fort dates back a whopping 2000 years!!Within the park you can also visit St Anthony’s Chapel – a 15th-century medieval chapel, Salisbury Crags – a series of 150-foot cliff faces dominating Edinburgh’s skyline as well as Duddingston Loch – a freshwater loch rich in birdlife and absolutely beautiful flora! This is a fantastic day out for everyone but do not forget to pack your walking shoes!!!

Loch Ness & The Highlands

No trip to Scotland would be complete without a hunt for the legendary Loch Ness Monster, but never fear mum’s & dad’s aside from the essential monster hunt the trip to Loch Ness uncovers some of the most epic scenery you can imagine! First, you can travel past Linlithgow Palace, birth place of Mary Queen of Scots, towards historic Stirling Castle and the National Wallace Monument. Before you go make sure you research the real story of ‘Braveheart’ & William Wallace’s victorious tactics against the English invaders & really impress your little explorers with the riveting history & your supreme cleverness of course!!! There’s even a brief glimpse of Doune Castle for Monty Python, Game of Thrones and Outlander fans and the ideal place to stop for a coffee & Get Fruity Bar at Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Your journey can continue to a stunning viewpoint at Loch Tulla & across the wilderness of Rannoch Moor to famous Glen Coe. The notorious massacre of the MacDonald Clan was carried out amidst this beautiful and dramatic scenery on the 13th February 1692. You may recognise this part of the Highlands, used in the movie ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’. A majestic setting in any season! As you progress towards Loch Ness you will have an opportunity to view Ben Nevis (highest mountain in Britain at 1344 m) from the famous Commando Memorial (we may leave climbing that one for another trip!!!). Here you can admire the spectacular views over the rugged landscape of Lochaber. Our journey takes us along the Caledonian Canal before arriving in Fort Augustus on the banks of legendary Loch Ness, I think now would be a great time for a re-fuel and a snack for your little explorers before the real excitement of monster hunting begins! Here you can decide whether to monster hunt from the shores of the magnificent Loch or, if you are really brave, venture onto the Loch in a boat!

Get Fruity is perfect for fueling your expedition, as our bars contain fruit, oats and virgin coconut oil. The perfect snack on the go! You will still have plenty of energy due to our slow release oat bars (even if you have caught the infamous monster of the Loch!) to carry on your explorations into Cairngorms National Park where you can enjoy a short woodland walk in this beautiful part of Scotland. On your way south you will travel past one of Scotland’s highest distilleries at Dalwhinnie and through the Grampian mountains towards Blair Castle, home of the Duke of Atholl. Your final stop is in the heart of the Highlands, Big Tree Country in Highland Perthshire, where you can enjoy an early evening stroll through one of the picturesque villages; then on your approach to Edinburgh you travel across the Forth Road Bridge from which you can see the magnificent Forth Rail Bridge considered to be the greatest engineering achievement of the Victorian age, it is one of Scotland’s most impressive landmarks.

By this time I am sure you will be ready to rest & rejuvenate ready for another day of adventure, fun & happy healthy memory making!
